Height of Arrows

Along with Touch’s design maestro Chris Logan, I created the name, brand story and tone of voice for Height of Arrows, a new gin release from the recently relaunched Holyrood Distillery. (All images Murray Orr for Touch.)

The story of this boundary-breaking gin was inspired by Holyrood's enviable location in the dramatic shadows of Arthur’s Seat. Ard-na-Said (meaning Height of Arrows) is the Gaelic name for Arthur’s Seat, which at 251m was said to be the maximum height an archer could fire an arrow. Given the Holyrood team’s ambition to aim higher and smash a few records of their own, it felt like a winner from day one.
Fortunately the bosses at Holyrood bought into the concept and name and let Chris do his thing on the bottle design and packaging, and I’m proud to say that Height of Arrows won the Whisky Exchange Gin of the Year 2022.
